Capacity building
In order to fulfill its objective of strengthening individual, collective and institutional capacity in responding to HIV/AIDS in all dimensions of life and to enhance the sharing of experiences, resources and information on HIV/AIDS, UGANAT caries out capacity building workshops for different stakeholders and below are some of the groups that have been trained;- Capacity building for Uganda police force. UGANET identified the Uganda Police Force as one of the key players in the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS since human rights violations related to HIV/AIDS are in most cases reported to the police. Its against this back ground that UGANET empowered the police with skills and knowledge to link human rights violations and the spread of HIV infection. A regional capacity building workshop for police officers in Northern Uganda was held 2008 drawing officers from the districts of Lira, Amolatar, Oyam, Pader, Kitgum and Apac.
- Technical Capacity Building training workshops for Program Officers. UGANET trains Program Officers from NGOs and CBOs dealing in HIV/AIDS service delivery to the communities. During the workshops, the program officers are sensitized on the link between HIV/AIDS, Human Rights and the law. They are also equipped with skills, with which they can address the human rights, legal and policy aspects arising in the context of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in their day to day work.
